Suvarnabhumi Airport has an area of 20,000 Rai (7,900 acres) and is situated on Bangna-Trad Road at Km 15. In 1982, the project commenced with a Master Plan study, which was monitored throughout the project by the Airport Authority of Thailand (AAT), now known as Airports of Thailand PCL (AOT). The study included architectural planning, infrastructure, soil improvement, environmental assessment, feasibility studies, and development phasing to accommodate up to 100 million passengers per year.
