Phuket International Airport

  • Aviation & Transportation
information:

Originally, Phuket International Airport’s existing terminal was a single building serving both domestic and international passengers. The existing international passenger terminal had a capacity of 6.5 million passengers per year. Therefore, Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited (AOT) initiated the following projects:
1. Design and construction of a new International Terminal, including four passenger boarding bridges, PC Air, 400 Hz, and Docking Guidance Systems, as well as commercial and office areas, with a total area of approximately 52,000 sq.m. The project also included the design and construction of a connection between the new International Terminal and the existing terminal building, covering both landside and airside areas, with an area of approximately 1,350 sq.m., together with various special systems and equipment. The new International Terminal is a four-storey building designed to increase the airport’s passenger-handling capacity by 5 million passengers per year.
2. Renovation of the existing terminal building into a Domestic Terminal, with an area of approximately 41,500 sq.m., including the renovation of the building’s exterior appearance to be consistent with the new International Terminal, as well as the improvement and upgrading of various systems and the integration of relevant systems to ensure coordinated operation with those of the new International Terminal. The existing three-storey building was renovated to increase its passenger-handling capacity to 7.5 million passengers per year.
